Lightning
ORIGINAL NAME Claire Farron
AGE Physically appears to be in her early twenties. She is actually hundreds of years old, after being sent to her world's version of Valhalla, forced to witness the ends of many timelines, and then put into crystal stasis for another 500 years. This is a big fat unknown, even to Lightning herself.
HOMETOWN Bodhum
SPECIES Goddess (formerly: human, then the protector of the Goddess of Death, then Goddess, though disconnected from that role)
FAMILY Serah Farron (sister), mother (deceased, name unknown), father (deceased, name unknown)
LANGUAGE Cocoon, Pulsian, Etro, and not-Latin (as in, she wouldn't know it as Latin)
OCCUPATION renounced Goddess of Death and Savior of Souls, former soldier
APPEARANCE Lightning is thinner than her strength shows, standing at 5'7" and not looking as if she has the musculature for the strength she has—and she's always been a physically strong individual, even back in the days of being human. She walks like someone with stiff military training, and she always seems to be taking in a scene. But she is also stiff in her mannerisms, and though she seems to think otherwise, she is pretty much like an open book when she's fussed or irritated, sighing and frowning rather easily.

She has shiny pink hair (it's called pink, strawberry blonde, rose-colored, etc.) and she has greenish blue eyes. She also has a belly button piercing, though that's largely hidden by her clothing. She always carries a sword of some kind, and she usually has a shield on hand, too. Noticing the physical similarities between her and Lumina is fine, as they are meant to literally look a lot alike.

For those with "special perception" abilities, she a goddess, yet currently cut off from her actual power because there is another god of her particular aspect in game already. Her soul has not yet been reborn, so it has been tampered with and changed for this reason. She does not have this domain in the Drabwurld, and as such cannot benefit from that position.

Following an attack from the Shuck, Lightning is now less her left eye. She wears an eyepatch over it. Thanks to help from Midach Griffin, she has acquired a new eye. Hallelujah.
CANONPOINT After everyone reunites at the end of Lightning Returns and defeats Bhunivelze, but before all their souls are reborn in the new world.

RELATIONSHIPS

TBD.

INVENTORY

Garb One
Splendid admiral. A physical garb that allows her auto-bravery when she switches to it.

Garb Two
Dragoon. A physical leaning garb that allows her to resist physical attacks by an extra twenty percent.

Garb Three
Equilibium+. Increased chance to recover for a new attack.

Ultima Weapon
A sword, its ability "Arsenal of One" makes "Army of One" more powerful, very strong hitting weapon, this is a gift from Serah after going through the four trials in preparation for defeating Bhunivelze. Will presumably not translate to being as powerful in the Drabwurld.

Ultima Shield
received after going through the four trials, this is also a gift from Serah. This is also presumably not as powerful, as RPG stats do not translate.

Irondragon Scale
An accessory that boosts Lightning's HP by 10% and her ability to resist physical damage by 10%.

Runic Ring
An accessory that allows Lightning to resist magic damage by 10%.

Fighter's Emblem
This is an accessory with an increased strength of 15%.

Demon Claw (x2)
A lance with the ability to give linking more spring in battle with Jump, and it has more ability to make enemies stagger within her own canon, though this will not apply to the Drabwurld in part because applying FFXIII video game staggering will be difficult.

Guardian Corps Shield
A shield with little in the way of ever guarding

Frostward Bangle
An accessory that boosts her resistance to ice magic by 25%.

Samurai's Comb
An accessory that boosts Lightning's magic and strength by 10%.

This is a javelin that Noel Kreiss uses. It's what he uses to destroy the Oracle Drive. Lightning takes it after their fight. It boosts strength and allows her to jump in battle. She keeps this locked away.

Ghostly Hood
While it grants its wearer resistance to physical attacks by 75%, it makes them completely incapable of fighting back. (It removes all magic and strength by 100%.) She keeps this locked away. Received after defeating snow.

Chaos' Revenge
This is a very large sword with Bahamut's eye inset into it. It grants the use strength and magic +600, but it's large and unwieldy. She keeps this locked away. Received after "defeating" Caius.

Preta Hood
While it grants its wearer resistance to magical attacks by 75%, it completely drops their magic and strength down to nothing. Received after fighting alongside Fang and defeating the monster in the Dunes.

Originally "just a soldier," Lightning threw away all the stability she had in her life the moment she found out her sister Serah had been branded as a Pulse l'Cie. Desperate to make up for the mistake of pushing her sister away, she goes on a quest to save her—and fails. Lightning does a bit of growing up after that, learning that trying to be strong doesn't always mean she's strong. In the process, she truly becomes that way as she realizes that humanity has been led around like puppets their entire lives. She has to release humanity from these strings … even if it's costly.

Of course, it does turn out to be costly. Many people die along the way, and Lightning experiences the souls of the dead on her way to Valhalla. Lightning herself is not dead, no, but she is sucked into that world by the unseen chaos because too many changes happened and too many souls were being sent to Valhalla. There, Lightning repents for her sins and all the lives she took and fights to protect the throne of Etro. Etro, of course, is the Goddess of Death. While there, Lightning sends her sister around to try to make a better future, not knowing that Serah would eventually die as result of these actions. Guilt-ridden once more, Lightning has Serah come to her and ask her not to forget her, and to preserve her memory. Keeping her word, Lightning crystalizes herself along with Serah in a deep sleep … for almost an entire five hundred years.

When she awakens, it's to a dying world. Well aware that nothing she can do will save it, Lightning takes on a new role as the savior (and eventual Goddess of Death). Ultimately, Lightning takes down the final god with the help of her friends (cue: the Beatles), and they go on to a new world. Except, instead, Lightning has ended up in the Drabwurld, and she hasn't been reborn at all.

Abilities
canon
  • Godly physiology As a result of Bhunivelze's tampering, Lightning is still a goddess, but without any aspect that particularly powers her. In this world, she doesn't have the ability to interact with the souls as she could have before, but she is still rather gifted.
  • Physical boosts As a goddess, Lightning is in top physical shape, and she is both stronger and more durable than the average person.
  • Running Quickly On foot, Lightning is able to run as quickly as a horse, but she does grow tired before long.
  • Physical training As a soldier who has been fighting for a long time, Lightning is in peak physical condition. She can do flippy things, wield most types of weapons with ease, and fight for a long time without tiring … overly much.
  • Savior of Souls Lacking any of the main boosts with this right now, Lightning is currently only able to go without sleep for an extended period of time.
  • Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga/Surge These are lightning-elemental attacks. Why Final Fantasy insists on using the word "thunder" for them after all these years is a mystery to me, too! Anyway, they also go in increasing order, and can leave a status effect of someone "sparking" from thundara and above. Surge sounds precisely what it sounds like. This is an element that doesn't strike its target as efficiently as the others, but it can be rather effective once it strikes true.
  • Deprotect/Deprotectga These are magical attacks that decrease the enemy's ability to resist physical attacks, and deprotectga hits multiple enemies at once.
  • Expert Melee Lightning is rather skilled with melee attacks, and is able to take up just about any weapon and use it well. She was noted to be special even as a soldier because she used a blazefire saber, which was a rather difficult weapon to wield.
  • Spark Strike/Electric Blitz: This is a largely physical attack where she fuses her electrical powers with either a single strike (spark strike) or multiple opponents strike that sweeps over the area (electric blitz).
  • Proficient Guarding Lightning is able to withstand attacks and hold her guard for an extended period of time.
  • Mediguard One such way she can guard is through mediguard, which can return her health. But if her opponent continues to hit her, it only heals so much.
  • EP Ability One: Army of One Lightning is able to execute Army of One in real time, making it so she can strike her opponent rather quickly. (1 EP cost.)
  • EP Ability Two: Quake At 2 EP, this deals non-elemental damage to all enemies.
  • EP Ability Three: Teleport At 3 EP, Lightning is able to head to any location she has visited before. If she is in battle, she is unable to use this ability (partly due to RPG mechanics, but in game, it will be because she's simply too involved to focus the energy to utilize this). Lightning will only be able to teleport to a location if she has already visited it. She can only teleport up to three times a day because of the restrictive EP cost, and less if she has used Army of One or Quake.
  • Schemata Ability to magically change between three outfits at once. Can only equip one sword, one shield, and two accessories per outfit. Outfits may just be outfits.
BOONS
  • TBD.
