I'm well. [Or as well as one can be when her family member has left, but she's strong, and it's been over a week. She knows Hope would like her to continue forward, as she always has.]

[ There's a pause. ] Well, I'm alive, so there's that.

We got back a few weeks ago, from Europe. It's taken a bit to put everything together, but...

[heralding]

I'd hope for better. [It's her way of saying "sorry to hear that." But she truly is.]

And ... what is it? [The "but" is foreboding.]

We heard a lot over there. About Amur, about some other things. Canada, in particular, and the USSR.

There's a lot going on over there, and not a lot of it is good. Thankfully, the people themselves seem to be pretty open to the idea of having us around, but that's about the only good thing I can say.

[heralding]

So if it came about that we might need to relocate, we'll be welcomed elsewhere.

[There's a hint of relief in her voice.]

Can you explain the implications about what you heard about Amur, Canada, and the USSR? I'm not sure if I understand the connection.

[IE she's still not from Earth, sorry, Kaidan.]

Well, you heard Amur as well as we did. I thought it could be a person, or an organization, or maybe even a river. There's one in Russia, called the Amur river, and then there's a bay too. But some people seem to think it's a person, but one we're not going to see.

[ A frustrated grunt. ]

Anyway, Canada is up north from here, they're normally a lot more neutral than this, or they often sided with the US, but... Apparently here they want to help the soviets. That's different, compared to the Earth history I learned.
